Most windows used locally for NEW CONSTRUCTION are fastened to the studs by nailing through a flange that that is affixed to the perimeter frame of the window. Probably the most important thing here is to weatherproof the installation with proper flashing procedures.
Several general categories of window are available:
- Sliding (horizontal or vertical)
- Picture (fixed)
- Casement (hinged on the side)
- Awning (hinged at the top)
- Combinations of the above (like bay windows, special situations, etc.)
- Patio doors
Most often, windows made to “standard” sizes work fine in this situation, but special sizes are available at reasonable prices. Call or send a list for us to quote.
